What is DDR3 RAM

DDR3, short for Double Data Rate Three, is a type of DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) released in June 2007 to replace DDR2. DDR3 chips have bus clock speeds from 400MHz to 1066MHz, range in size from 1GB to 24GB and consume almost 30% less power than their predecessors. DDR3 RAM for a desktop computer has 240 pins. On a laptop, DDR3 RAM has 204 pins. These memory chips can only be installed on a motherboard that supports DDR3 memory and not DDR2 memory slots. IBM 46W0716

Difference between RAM and ROM

Random Access Memory (RAM)   is used to store the programs and data being used by the CPU in real-time. The data on the random access memory can be read, written, and erased any number of times. RAM is a hardware element where the data being currently used is stored. It is a volatile memory. Types of RAM: Static RAM , or (SRAM) which stores a bit of data using the state of a six transistor memory cell. Dynamic RAM , or (DRAM) which stores a bit data using a pair of transistor and capacitor which constitute a DRAM memory cell. Read Only Memory (ROM)  is a type of memory where the data has been prerecorded. Data stored in ROM is retained even after the computer is turned off ie, non-volatile. Types of ROM: Programmable ROM , where the data is written after the memory chip has been created. It is non-volatile. Erasable Programmable ROM , where the data on this non-volatile memory chip can be erased by exposing it to high-intensity UV light. Electrically Erasable Programmab...

What is the difference between RAM and ROM?

RAM, which stands for Random Access Memory, and ROM, which stands for Read Only Memory, are present in your computer. RAM is volatile memory that temporarily stores the files you are working on. ROM is non-volatile memory that permanently stores instructions for your computer. What is computer RAM? RAM is volatile memory, which means that information temporarily stored on the module is erased when you restart or turn off your computer. Because information is stored electrically in transistors, the data is gone when no electric current is flowing. Each time you request a file or information, it is retrieved from your computer's hard drive or the Internet. The data is stored in RAM, so the information is immediately available when you switch from one program or page to another. When the computer is turned off, the memory is cleared until the process begins again. Users can easily change, upgrade or expand the volatile storage. What is ROM? ROM stands for non-volatile memory in comput...

What is DDR4 RAM Why Should you install DDR 4

When looking for your next laptop to invest in, there are many technical features that you can and should consider. You'll have to make decisions about screen size, screen resolution, processing speed, internal storage, and RAM, just to scratch the surface. Or maybe you already have a laptop, but you've noticed a lag when multitasking between different apps. Do you just throw away your old laptop and buy a new one? Or should you upgrade your RAM so your laptop can do more things at once? Next, we will look at a specific type of memory module, DDR4 RAM, which is one of the best ways to upgrade your laptop. However, you must ensure that DDR4 is compatible with your computer model before doing so. Here's a quick guide to learning about RAM, the short-term storage system in your computer, and how DDR4 can turn your computer from a battlefield into a multitasking master. What is RAM memory? Before we delve into DDR4 RAM, you might be wondering, "What is RAM anyway?" RA...

DDR4 vs DDR5 RAM: Complete Comparison [2023]

With the introduction of new Intel and Ryzen processors, many of us are wondering if upgrading to DDR5 is worth it. This article gives you all the information about DDR4 vs DDR5 Ram. The performance increase is now guaranteed with the arrival of DDR5, although shortages and resale prices have affected initial production. However, the advent of next-generation CPUs should bring the price of DDR5 memory back to more reasonable levels. Then you need to weigh the benefits of upgrading to the faster RAM module against the price. It would be best if you also decide if the performance increase from the upgrade is significant enough to justify the cost. Here we would like to talk a bit about the differences between DDR4 Vs. DDR5 RAM memory. It would help if you consider the improvements it will have over the current industry standard, DDR4. DDR5 memory features many significant performance enhancements and new design advancements. Developers, content creators, and computer system buyers are in...

Types of Computer Memory

Computer memory, a device for temporary or permanent storage of data or programs (sequences of instructions) for use in an electronic digital computer. Computers represent information in binary code, written as sequences of 0s and 1s. Any binary digit (or "bit") can be stored by any physical system, which can be in one of two stable states to represent 0s and 1s called bistable . This can be an on/off switch, an electrical capacitor that can store or release a charge, a magnet with its polarity pointing up or down, or a surface that may or may not have a hole. Today, capacitors and transistors, which work like small electrical switches, are used for temporary storage, and magnetically coated disks or tapes or pit-patterned plastic disks are used for long-term storage. Computer memory is divided into main (or primary) storage and auxiliary (or secondary) storage. Main memory holds instructions and data when a program is running, while auxiliary memory holds data and programs ...
